Repairing the World

Improving oneself and helping others do the same is the key to a brighter future.

In Kabbalah the concept of rectification or "Tikkun" (תיקון) is a central theme and it will serve as the guiding directive for our activities. In the Christian world, this is known as "repentance", but misuse of the word has obscured it's true power. It refers to the process of repairing, restoring, or perfecting the world, and is tied deeply into the narrative of creation, humanity's role in the universe, and the nature of good and evil. Each soul is thought to have its own Tikkun, a spiritual task or purpose it must fulfill in its lifetime. This could be a personal challenge to overcome, a societal problem to address, or a religious duty to uphold.

There are so many areas of rectification needed in our society that it is overwhelming to even consider a beginning. But given the unnatural state of our culture, at the MoL we understand that best way to start is to formulate a new economy whereby people can begin to work on themselves-to become better humans, anointed, like Christ. Thus, the underlying mission of the Ministry of Life, and from which all others will follow, is improvement of the self, and we will begin by repairing the damage done to our gut microbiome from decades of poor eating. From my experiences over the past 3 years farming at Eber, fighting my own internal battle of Gog and Magog, the Apocalyptic war spoken of by John in Revelation, I now understand that trials and labored effort are the surest teachers and the straightest route to self improvement. It is for this reason that our society is currently facing so many difficulties. Things will only get worse until we begin correcting our ways.

At Eber, we will undertake various Tikkun initiatives; however, our primary external mission will focus on rejuvenating degraded soils using Management Intensive Grazing. We will take you on a journey as we fence and prepare the virgin land of Eber for the introduction of livestock that we will use to paint the entire property in preparation for the planting of orchards and gardens and, in time, the construction of habitats for our natural birthing program. Cooperating with local partners, we will explore the potential for selectively breeding cows that are well suited to the task of grazing the Texas landscape to restore fertility to soils that have been under heavy traditional farming for decades and which have lost the ability to produce without heavy chemicals. By introducing our methods to nearby landowners, we hope to inspire a collaboration of landowners to offer their lands for grazing, opening the door to the possibility of earning carbon credits for them and our stewards while protecting our beef from the toxic influence of the Pharm-ag-chemical complex through our constitutional rights.

Running tandem with the mission of restoring fertility to soil is our desire to educate landowners on how to best manage their property for the preservation and reclamation of water, the life-giver. Guided by the wisdom of Delbert Trew and the Trew Ranch in the Texas Panhandle, we will begin the process of creating a systematic plan to ensure our state's water resources are better managed to prevent runoff, waste and loss. These are not improvements that require any large sum of money, but they do require expertise in land management and labor that can only be learned through observation and cooperation. By focusing on carbon in the soil and the water under and over it, we will inspire and attract a new movement to secure the elements most necessary for life to flourish and for our communities to thrive for generations more.
